retrospective 1999-2004
2005 - PMC050
Please get in touch to discuss purchasing this album.

Retrospective 1999-2004 Zombie Prom Queen - baby's got morphine eyes - 2:33
from the album stone cold and gray (2000). A groovy raw rock song that'll get anybodys foot tapping with Voodoo T Savage sounding fabulously gravelly and intense. The guitar describes a bending twisty blues riffage around a walking bass that wanders over the fretboard.

Tangent Precipitate - wood, brass, nylon part 6 - 1:23
from the album Wood, Brass, Nylon (2001), an eight part CD of improvised accoustic guitar music.

Cyberphobe - breakdown (excerpt) - 4:36
from the album during the year of my nervous breakdown (2003), Cyberphobe's story of the failure of the world we live in. breakdown is the second part of the suite The year of my nervous breakdown.

Tangent Precipitate - disturbed bits 007.001 (excerpt) - 2:57
from the album disturbed bits #007 (2001). Disturbed Bits is a ten part series of long pieces of beautiful and intense power electronics. They investigate the ability of the juxtaposition of treated loops of different varieties to create resultant sounds that are different in character from the source material, perhaps "greater than the sum of it's parts" as it were.

Jeff Henderson - fuck you you bureaucratic fucks 2 (excerpt) - 3:23
from the album fuck you you bureaucratic fucks (2004), recorded live at the Wayfarer Library Exhibition at Enjoy Gallery in Wellington NZ on the 25th November 2002. Jeff plays tenor sax. Jeff pulls out one of the more satisfying and amusing slants on "jazz" that I've had the pleasure of hearing.

craig irie - the karaoke poet - 4:37
from the album live at the photospace 20th august 2004 (2004). Craig Irie is a Wellington poet, organiser of the Wellington Word Festival, and a founding member of the Word Collective.

Starcrusher - solar flare (excerpt) - 3:34
from the album Starcrusher (2000). A perfect example of the groups agenda - a complex piece of drones, synths and drums layered and evolving, a cohesive piece that takes many different forms.

Tangent Precipitate - elevated states of consciousness #001 - 2:47
from the album elevated states of consciousness (2001). A beautiful, simple and unusually rhythmically based piece for Tangent Precipitate.

the Rick Jensen Trio - the pointless doorway (excerpt) - 2:53
from the album city of confusion (2004). Free jazz, recorded live at the Newtown community centre in Wellington NZ. With Rick playing alto sax and clarinet, Sam Stephens playing piano, and Richard Whyte playing cello.

The Shambolics - farmyard - 2:45
from the album drunk and mean at the cross bar (2004). Recorded live at the Cross bar on the 12th of July 2003. The assault of sound on this recording calls to mind the Japanese excesses of High Rise and their ilk. The Shambolics made nasty, dirty punk rock music in 2003 and 2004. The album is great document of the energy of a shambolics live performance.

Tangent Precipitate - fleetwoodmac - drifting (lines of fire remix) (excerpt) - 2:32
from the album lines of fire (2002), a CD of hand cut up improvised remixes of material by Tangent Precipitate and from other sources. Could be called plunderphonics improvised in real-time. From the Fleetwood Mac track Drifting.

Unknown Rockstar - fake ivory 4 (excerpt) - 4:03
from the album fake ivory (2004), a double CD of improvised piano, influenced by classical music, jazz, and the avant garde. Recorded on the sly in Massey Conservatorium of Music practice rooms on a day of September 2004. The album is for Miss Ruby Nekk.

Richard Whyte - a question - 2:37
from the album wireless (2003), recorded live to air on the Deprogrammer show, hosted by Sam and Smiley, on MUNT FM on the 16th of June 2003. Richard Whyte is a talented folk and country performer who has been performing his ever increasing song book of originals and favourite songs for some years.

CasioTony - the cops - 2:35

Tangent Precipitate - erosion (excerpt) - 3:34
from the album the martian canals (2000), a continuous piece/suite, an evolving enchanting pulsing soundscape.

voodoo t savage and The Insatiable Opium Cowboys - women trouble part 1 - 3:15
from the album hillbilly at heart (2003), recorded live to minidisc by Evil Stan in 2003 in the Epuni St living room in Wellington, New Zealand. Voodoo Savage exorcises his demons in this series of impassioned accoustic songs.

Tangent Precipitate - sun needles - 2:04
from the album destroying his name (2002). a piece of cut up poetry, constructed from the ubu web collection.

richie rhinestone and The Insatiable Opium Cowboys - stories and songs - 3:31
from the album I ain't never been to heaven, but I hear they've got a real good bar (2003), recorded live at the Cross, Wellington NZ on the 4th September 2003. rock in a country vein.

Tangent - fairy tales - 1:21
from the album a pictorial history (2004). An assemblage of samples, an investigation of their relationships.

Tangent Precipitate - outside the inside (excerpt) - 2:13
from the album outside the inside (2002). "...a live recording of keyboard through delay, played with a mind for interlocking/interweaving figures and exploring overtones - i find that listening to it intently sets me in powerful trance states."

from the album 1989-everything (2002), an involved journey through a series of sound/psychic/sample spaces.

Tangent - take your pills, john - 2:17
from the album primordial goo (1998). a mean industrial track.

Tangent Precipitate - driven by a private compulsion that threatens to overwhelm him (excerpt) - 2:58
from the album driven by a private compulsion that threatens to overwhelm him (2002). The moods, shades and places of the feedback drone interactions of three guitars explored, drawn into slow movement, complexity and drive.
